Ayew
What an odd player he is?

He was the only player that I was unhappy with in the first half (Carrol was close, but was ok). He passed the ball okay, but never seemed to go forward. When forward with the ball he either made a longish pass back or dribbled forward into group of spurs players and lost the ball.

Then in the second half, he worked so hard, not just for the goals all over the pitch, closing Spurs down in midfield. Ran for every ball. More than the team he was the player of two halfs.

Then there is this Stat on the bbc: Since his debut for the club in August 2016, Andre Ayew has been directly involved in more goals than any other West Ham player (10 goals, five assists).

Perhaps it is more a case of crap from the rest of the team, but he is becoming an important player for us.

Sorry to start a new thread, but could not find an Ayew thread...

Re: Ayew
The only player you were unhappy with, wow you're easily pleased!!

The whole team were diabolical in the first half

Re: Ayew
Fuck off, This is a tread about Ayew!

We were passing the ball well in the first half, but not really getting on goal to well. I guess there was getting caught out for the first goal, but there second was a bit lucky.

I'm lost for words if you think we were Ok first half....

Re: Ayew
Ayew is the Ghanaian Kevin Nolan.

Literally does nothing, lumbers around looking clumsy and slow but then pops up with vital goals.

God bless him today

Re: Ayew
To be fair he put in a shift second half, actually ran, chased and pressed.

Re: Ayew
He's shown in the past he's always likely to get on the end of chances but more than that he turned into an absolute mad man second half. He's got to put in that sort of shift on a regular basis, in fact they all do, we'd fly up the table.

Re: Ayew
You are doing Kevin Nolan a huge disservice Pricey, he was a pretty good footballer.

Re: Ayew
First half he was trying to run at players from deep and kept losing the ball. Second half he seemed to play in advance of Carroll which was much more effective. Hopefully he can kick on now.

Re: Ayew
He seems to care...I can spot a bullsitter.
In my humble..he strikes me as a player who needs to feel loved to get the best out of him.
You could visibly see the surge in confidence after his first goal..encouraging. .that's all I'm saying.

Re: Ayew
Ayew is exactly the same as a vast majority of our team. There's a player in there somewhere, but like most of our signings he joined and turned shit. Fonte, Ayew, Arnautovic, Hernandez... 4 that were the best players at their club not too long ago.

If we could find a way to get them back to the players they were, we'd have a really great side

Re: Ayew
I literally cannot believe he was the only player you were unhappy with at halfers. Cressers was absolute pone.

Re: Ayew
He was brought in for his goals, so for me it's pointless playing him too far away from the goal. It all seems to be part of this naive 'anyone can play any position' philosophy.

Martillo

Exactly. I don't think there was a lack of effort in the first half just that Spurs were very organised and we couldn't break them down. They got a goal on the break and a flukey defection.

Re: Ayew
Yep good to see he hit some decent crossfield passes Yesterday

Re: Ayew
Carroll was OK?

Fucking hell. He was by far the worse player on the pitch. How a professional footballer cannot control a ball and pass to another teammate is beyond me

Re: Ayew
Ayew played a lot further forward for Swansea didn´t he, hence 13 goals in a season? If he is less advanced he gets involved in infuriating dead end runs then loses it.
Problem is,he isn´t a better strike than Sakho or little pea so he shouldn´t start.
Carrol was again redundant, you either play to his strenghts and cross the ball or don´t play him. Think there were 2 attempted crosses (other than corners aimed for AC).
Billic should be telling the players to bombard those crosses in the moment they are 15 yards from the box.
Just like Hernandez AC is only as good as his supply.

Re: Ayew
He's just one of those players who knows where to be for anything in the box.

If you can accept he may not do too much outside of the box other than run around a lot, then he'll always be nicking goals.

Moose.
Any fool..(even Davies)..worth their salt knows Carroll was pivotal to that result.

I'd say he's ahead of the little whining Pea right now. Things looking very uncertain for the Mexican.

Re: Ayew
Didn't Carroll make the "assist to the assist" when Lanzini put Ayew in for his second?

Pretty good one, too.
